Cassia Essential Oil is obtained from Cinnamomum cassia. aromaticum and Laurus cassia. It belongs to Lauraceae family and is also popularly known by the names of false cinnamon and cassia lignea. Its slender, evergreen tree generally grows up to a height of 20 meters and it has thick, leathery leaves along with small white colour flowers. These beautiful flowers are actually followed by the single-seeded berries, the size of small olives. The bark of the Cassia tree is also widely used in order to flavour the curries, in baked cuisine, candies and many soft drinks. Cassia oil is obtained from the leaves, its bark, twigs and lastly from the stalks through the steam distillation process. This oil has plethora of great properties and is more than just fragrant oil. It can also be used in conditions like-fever, chills and also supports the digestive system. This essential oil called Cassia carries a warm pungent smell. And this very famous essential oil should not be used in massage therapy.
